Not what I was expecting when I read the title., but it was 34min well spent regardless. Just love the TED talks, best intellectual snack food you can get. Fun to see Aubrey de Grey making a question from the audience at the end. His own TED talk is well worth checking out if you haven’t already (and sens.org in general)
Thanks for the comment Seth – I always thought Dan Gilbert’s non-academic publications and presentations were poorly titled. His first book was called “In Search of Happiness” and I always found it embarassing to own since it sounds like yet another cheesy self help book. The contents are entirely different – it’s a summary of recent scientific research on what he calls the “psychological immune system” and gets quite technical at times. Unfortunately “happiness” is such a loaded word, mainly due to overuse by fraudulent self-help “gurus”, and I’ve received many doubtful comments about that book, simply because of the title.

I’ll certainly check out Aubrey de Grey.
